What Is The Current Situation With Cathay?

I was wondering what the current situation is with Cathay Pacific? I know that they are currently parking aircraft for a while, but are their any new orders on the horizon? What are the plans for the 777, A330 and A340. A380 and Sonic Cruiser? Also, what is going on with their 747-400 fleet? There was talk of something "Special" being done to one of the Jumbos that is heading off to Xiamen.

Not sure what the current fleet situation is but the B744 LHR/HKG routes seem to be busy after travelling standby on them recently. The service was also really good and staff very friendly and helpfull. They are planning to keep the 742F's for a while as far as I'm aware as I know a f.o that operates on them and has been fairly busy.

The latest is the SOHK will do its last service this weekend and go to Avalon for storage, so the special things may not happen.

WHAT??????????????? SOHK is going to be stored????? WHY???? Is it one of the older 744 in their fleet?

Anyway, I was lucky to have a chance of flying it last year when I went back to Hong Kong!!!

Why would they want to store B-HOX? It's the only special-liveried plane they have in their fleet after the retirement of SOHK 97, a 742 of what registration I cannot remember.

I think the B742 was registered B-HIB. At least I got a closed up view of it when our plane parked right next to it at Kai Tak.

IMHO, no A340 will ever have the "class" of the 744!!

I think the A346 was going to be used for flights to JFK but I wouldn't be sure now. Maybe AKL will get them next summer.

First delivery is in June or July I think.

And no the 346 isn't in the class of a 744! Infact no aircraft is except another 744!

Wasn't HOX going to be having new winglets fitted for trial? I'm sure there are other routes CX can use 744's on like AKL and MEL!

The rumours were that winglets were to be fitted. Our COO said that "something special" was in store for that. Rumours are now that it will be returned. I hardly consider that special at all!!! It was also said that it would go to XMN for storage, but now someone says AVV. Basically, no-one knows!!
