N228UA, United Airlines' newest 777 will be taking the skies tomorrow. There are still other 777s in PAE with certain problems, but will be joining the fleet. I thought that I would pass this on to any ORD, LAX or DEN spotters tomorrow who may catch a glimpse of UA's newest 777.

How does UA´s 777 fleet is composed ?

All are 777-200ER, or they have 777-200 for US operations and 777-200ER for transatlantic/pacific destinations ?

Besides, they must have 55 or more 777´s don´t they ?

I believe that they either have 61 or will have 61 when all of the current deliveries are done. Wow, 61 young vibrant widebodies. Its hard to think that some day at an airport my son will ask when United is going to get rid of these old worn down 777s and buy new Boeing XXXs!

United Airlines has 60 777-200s. 38 are ER and 22 are non-ER. 6 of the non-ER are two class planes and fly intrahub in the US and to Hawaii. The other non-ER 777s fly within the US, to Europe and South America. The ER flies the same routes and also pacific routes. Check out my webpage for more info. There was also another post on this just a few days ago. Do a search. The777Man

United is going to introduce new 777s????

What about the "old" N226UA and N227UA which were prepared for long term storage after the delivery?

N226UA has been in service for about two weeks now. I think the rest (N224UA, N225UA, N227UA and N229UA) will leave PAE one by one in the next few weeks. The777Man

2824 will be out for a while...no engines.

The others are waiting for interior fittings and as they get them, they will start comming back into the fleet.

N227UA had a testflight on 20Mar02 and might be the next one to go into service. I'll keep you posted. Thanks also to ILUV767 for his great info, reliable as always. Hope they get some engines for N224UA and get it into regular service soon. The777Man

N227UA had its first revenue flight on 23Mar02 and will fly LAX-IAD-CDG on 26Mar02. I think the three remaining 777s at PAE for UA will be out of there by 19 Apr02 when UA starts NRT-TPE with 777. I'll keep you posted. The777Man

Congrats to United (though I'm still holding a grudge because of the Pepsi thing)...

N229UA was put in service on 31Mar with first flight as UA 1208 SFO-ORD. It will fly as UA 962 DEN-IAD and UA 947 IAD-LAX on 1Apr02. UA now only has two 777-222ER stored at Paine Field (PAE), N224UA and N225UA. They should probably be in service by Jun02 at the very latest when UA starts 777 service to AKL. The777Man
