Lufthansa has seen such an upturn in passenger levels that it has put a Boeing 747 Jumbo jet on its Dubai service. But airline officials said that the Jumbo would not be flying the route for long. All airlines have reported an upturn in demand during the Dubai Shopping Festival this month but Lufthansa is the only one to put on a Jumbo service.
Anyone know how long the 747 will be used to Dubai?

That's great news! Yes a lot of airlines have been reporting high load factors because of the shopping festival. My dad's colleague flew KLM a few days ago to DXB and he was surprised to see the plane so full.
LH tried to increase flights into DXB last year by adding three extra weekly flights (A340) but they stopped the service quickly. I think a daily A340 from FRA is good enough.

i only checked some random dates but it seems that with the beginning of the new summer schedule at the end of march ACC/LOS and JED/RUH will see all frequencies operated by 747-400 aircraft.
DXB does not show any signs of scheduled 744 service, though.

Well they used to get many more before.specially the pre B777/A340 era....Before the B767 service, KLM operated B747-300 on KHI-DXB-AMS. Singapore used to operate the B747 on DXB-KHI-SIN.I go to DXB quite often and the only regular 747 service i can think of this time is PIA. I do remember seeing a B747 in KLM colors last summer but someone from this forum told me that it was a freighter. What airplane did Eva operate to DXB?

EVA used to fly with the MD11 to Dubai.
Dubai used to get B747 service in the 90's, by MH/KL/AI/PK/SQ. However all have downgraded the aircraft and increased frequency. I remember flying on a KLM B747-300 to AMS from DXB in 1996. The aircraft had come in from Dhaka!
