US Airways Restores Major Trans-atlantic Flight

According to Justplanes, US Airways will begin restore it's transatlantic flight that were being suspended after Sep 11. All restored flight has come into effect last Saturday (Mar 16).

PHL-AMS: 5x weekly 762 service now back to daily.
PHL-MAD: 5x weekly 762 service now back to daily.
PHL-FCO: 5x weekly 333 service now back to daily.
PHL-MUC: 4x weekly 762 service now back to daily.

PIT-CDG: resumption of daily service with 762.
PIT-LGW: resumption of daily service with 333.

CLT-FRA: resumption of daily service with 762, effective May 4.


US Airways will upgrade the following service from 762 to 333:

CLT-LGW: effective May 4.

US Airways will add additional daily flight from PHL to LGW from June 16.

US098 PHL 1755-0555 LGW 1215-1537 PHL US099 (ops with an Airbus A330-300)
US126 PHL 2055-0915 LGW 1455-1820 PHL US127 (ops with a Boeing 767-200)

Looks like US Airways is back on track with trans-atlantic market  Smile

I thought they had more A330s than that? How come so many 767s are still plying the Atlantic?

they still have the 333's go to sju, as well as phl-cdg, phl-lgw, phl-fra, phl-fco, and phl-man

767s are useful cos they hold about 170 pax (they are after all -200s) whereas the A330 is more like 260 pax. A second A330 would lose a tonne of money with 100 empty seats but a full 767-200 is a nice little earner.

CLT-CDG is not coming back. Neither is PHL-BRU. Those are permanent.

I'm pleased to see that they gave PIT-CDG priority over PHL-BRU and CLT-CDG.

US Airways should think about replacing their aging 767-200ERs with some new long range A330-200s.
