Two years and a half ago, when I flew on the last Sabena 747 flight around Belgium, Pat747 who also lives in Brussels greeted me at the arrival's lounge after the flight. He took a picture of that particular airplane coming in for it's last landing in BRU.
I'm planning to fly MIA-TPA-MIA on Apr 30th on the last American 727 flight. I may meet 727LOVER in TPA, that's where he lives. I hope to meet more airliners.net members on that flight.

Last L1011 flight with DL. Bob, Cody, DeltaSFO, and a few others. I once was on a JB flight from JFK-ONT, started talking aviation next to the guy next to me...he said he had a friend in scotland who shot photos, turned out it was colin abbott (then the other guy next to me was also into aviation, had his magazine out etc). Great flight! Not on flights, I've met dozens though.

The forum is a good idea. They do that on flyertalk.com. Also, another idea that flyertalk has is to have brightly-colored Airliners.net luggage tags, so you can instantly spot fellow users in the airport, aboard planes, etc.

I think a furum is a good idea as well. Many airliners.net users fly alot and I am sure many have crossed paths with out even knowing about it.
If anyone is interested I will be flying tomorrow Wednesday the 27th on SAS 938 SEA-CPH. When I land in Copenhagen I plan to have a beer during my 1 1/2 hour layover. I then board SAS 868 CPH-BGO at 3:00pm. This will be Thursday in Europe.

Another way to meet fellow a.net members is to look out for every 16-25 y/o male on your next flight, and follow his behaviour to see if he's looking at all the small details we write in our trip reports.
