I have just seen on the Eastern Airways site that they will begin Humberside-Edinburgh services in April.

HUY-EDI
0715-0825
1715-1825

EDI-HUY
0855-1005
1855-2005

flights are Mon-Fri only and are operated by Jetstream 32 a/c. looks like Eastern are finally expanding at HUY!

regards

mike

Any sign of the extra MAN services including the proposed 3 daily HUY(!)?

Pity I don't need any of the newer J31s seeing that they've been in MAN before in Regional Airlines services!

i had heard on the grape vine about a HUY-MAN service, no news at the moment on that one. I suspect Eastern's J31's are kept pretty busy they do loads of charter work for airlines and companies. Personally, i dont think this new route will so particularly well. In terms of growth potential, Brussels, Paris or a London airport are proven as routes from HUY, they would be better for Eastern.

Mike

Any new on about charter flights this summer? I have seen on a newsgroup that HUY used to have an Orlando service with 757s stopping at Shannon. Is the runway long enough to offer non-stop service to the Canaries or must there by a fuel-stop somewhere? I was under the impression that it was short and allowed payload-restricted departures only.

HUY's runway is 2,160 m long, so fully ladened non stop canary, and cyprus flights do operate. Britannia operated a number of one off charters from HUY to Orlando and the dominican republic with 767-200s in the late 90's.

The summer charter programme for 2002 is as follows:

a total of 12 airlines! and 27 flights a week! There is a strong possibility of Mytravel basing an A320 at HUY for summer 2003.

as for the NCL-MAN service, Gill had planned a twice daily ATR42 service before they went down, have'nt heard anything about Eastern starting one though. They may chose to base some J31s at MAN and start a new base there though, serving Norwich, Humberside, Newcastle and possibly, Teesside, who knows. On the Newcastle front, Lufthansa are keen to expand their operations at NCL, a FRA CRJ service would be great, i had to travel to manchester to get mine!

LH are moving their NCL-DUS service over to Eurowings (back again), with CRJ. No LH expansion into NCL so maybe they are not that keen. However, they will be adding a third EDI-FRA for this summer.

Nice to see OA staying at MAN, though Malev finishes. And is the Fedex A310 cargo service confirmed yet (MAN-CDG)? This is as well as any maintenance flights operating into MAN/FLS.

Fedex A310s replacing the Sh360 feeder flights? Haven't heard of that one. And to be frank, I'd be very surprised if this came off!
