Hi,

Could someone who have flown Spirit Airlines
tell me about your experience with them?
How's the service? Equipment?

Thanks
MTL

I flew out of SJU to FLL on Spirit last Dec. The line at the ticket counter formed early and was long, but they did a good job getting the people through. The agents were very nice and helpful too.

Once onboard their MD80, the ride was fairly comfortable. The equipment was not all that old, but I forget the year. The inflight service consisted of a 'snack pack'. Like the ones SWA has except theirs had Oreos! Yummy. My only complaint was that it was the coldest flight I have ever been on- ever! (What were they paying that F/O to do anyway?) To make matters worse, they had a shortage of blankets too.

The crew was nice, -even perky- and the actually chatted up a few people. They were easy to take and not a bad product at all. I'd fly them again. They live up to their name, that's for sure.

I wish I could agree with the comments above, but my experience with Spirit was not a good one......aircraft was dirty, we had an unexplained delay, and the cabin crew seemed a bit unprofessional. In general, people seem to chose Spirit due to their low fares.

"Service on Spirit" reminds me of some other great oxy-morons. Jumbo Shrimp. Government Intellligence. I have flown them twice and the experience was awful both times. I'm amazed they are still in business.

I really hated my Spirit experience. I will never fly them again, and I'm usually pretty sympathetic towards giving products a second chance.

Whenever I would walk past their gates at LGA or FLL, there would seem to be lots of angry passengers and lengthy delays, but maybe things are getting better.

The phrase "You get what you pay for" comes to mind. Its an airline, it gets you from point A to point B and thats about it..

A lot of people on the forum complain about airlines because of their lack of service items onboard an aircraft, so I would say you are going to get a lot of complaints about Spirit.

While I haven't flown them, I have heard that they are a decent airline. No frills, so don't expect a meal, but they are cheap, which in air travel today is good.

Recently they have had some maintenance problems that worry me, but that seems to have changed for the better. Like any airline, they have their good days and bad.

If you aren't going to freak out because you aren't served filet of pigeon on your flight, or the fact that you may fly on an older plane, then I think you will be fine.
