Hello,

Got a nice email today telling me about a new French low-cost airline called "Hexagone" They will ex-AOM operated MD-83's on routes from Paris Beauvais (where Ryanair flies from) to Strasbourg, Bordeaux, Carcassonne and Barcelona among others.

Apparently it was this week's Air & Cosmos.

Anyway, I am wondering if this will have any effect on Ryanair? Might mean that they will announce that their next focus-city will be Beauvais. The MD-83 seems to have lots of success with low-cost airlines in France.

Hi,
Any mention of Malaga?  Smile
Hexagone is a real cool name and the MD-83 is a good a/c for low cost carriers IMHO, integral airstairs and all that.

Rgds,
SunCEO

Hello,

Seems to be indeed true, something similar posted on another forum that confirms it was in Air & Cosmos. Here are some more details:

Routes: Toulon, Perpignan, Strasbourg, Bordeaux, Carcassonne et Barcelona.
Fleet: 6 MD-83's, ex-AOM
People behind it: One peson mentioned is Eric Chambard who tried to start Air Paris a few years back.

SunCEO,

No mention of AGP. I am not sure if the MD-83 is that ideal. Yes they are availible cheap right now but I am not sure if it makes the maximum use of FA's per x number of passengers. B737-300/B737-700/improved A319 easyJet are looking into, 3 FA's for 149/150 passenger so 50 passengers per FA. MD-83, 165 passengers and 4 FA's so 41 passengers per FA.
