-HALS- FRA Approach

I remember that some time ago they tested the socalled "HALS" (High Approach Landing System) on FRA's southern rwy. What did it result in? I have never seen a plane land 1000m beyond the 1000 foot marker so it looks as if it was no success. Or was it cancelled in order to be able to build a new runway sooner?
