TG's 747-300 Overnight Delay 2nd Time In 2 Weeks

HS-TGE, one of Thai's 2 747-300s, has been delayed overnight by a mechanical defect for the second time in 2 weeks.

Originally scheduled for departure March 28th at 1320, 'Chutamat' is now departing on March 29th at 1000. About a week and a half ago she was delayed for a similar time, again with aircraft defects (windshield fault).

I wonder if this will be the final nail in the coffin for the dear old girl?

Dam must have missed it by 1.5 hours or so as I was at the Airport earlier today!
How many pax?

HS-TGE is only 14.5 years old so she shoud be right for another few years yet!

What happened to todays TG991-992 service I never saw it arrive when I was at the airport today unless it was really early. Aircraft for today Friday should be a 744!

TG991/992 will be a mix of 743/744 during this Summer. I wonder will Thai decide not to fly 743 and use 744.

Scotty, HS-TGP arrived at 1150 with 346 pax. Maybe you missed it!

The rescheduled TG992 departed 50 minutes late again, Tech defects listed as the cause again!

Thanks, I was trying to figure it out myself, but could be anywhere...

I worked pretty often on TG's 747-300 when they still used it on the Munich route. Before that they used the MD11, now they use the 747-400, I think.

Delay due to aircraft defects

Unbelievable. BOTH delayed due to aircraft defects, one for over 21 hours, the other over 3 hours, and in one day!

This is a bit worrying for my favourite airline!

I flew in on -TGP today - nothing seemed wrong with it to me - except the IFE was not what was in the Magazine. I hope these delays dont become to frequent - I am due to be returning to SYD next friday on TG992, and I don't particularly want to be stranded here in NZ!

Anyway, its been a while since I have posted here, so hi again, and a happy easter to those celebrating it!

When I flew HS-TGD from CPH to BKK on the 29 of april 2001, the "Jet Starter Truck" was needed to start the A/C. APU out of order?

It is very common that the IFE is not was it says in the Magazine on Thai's B747-300. That's my experience.

A little bit embarrasing in fact.
I flew HS-TGP on the 27 of december as TG961 ARN-BKK and then the inflight music were not the same as written in the Magazine. The channels were in a total disorder. For example, I searched for the "thai-channel" but could not find it. The movies were correct what I could remember (but I'm not a "flying-movie-fan").
THAI is excellent, but the inflight music you hear in your headset is not always easy to track in the inflight Magazine. I'm sorry to say.

But they have very good music. How about Dadawa "Crossing the Ridge", or Stina Nordenstam/Vangelis "Ask the mountains". Could life be better than enjoying this music on a THAI B747-300 with a gin&tonic in your hand?  Big thumbs up
