I am trying to figure out some flights that I flew on in early 1985. I flew American from Boston to Dallas, and then Dallas to Phoenix and the same route back to Boston. I know this isn't a lot of info, but does anybody know what types of aircraft I probably flew on?

Ok, I looked in an old 1985 OAG and if you made a stop in DFW without changing planes it was a 727-200. If you left in the afternoon from BOS and switched planes at DFW it was a 727-200 connecting with a super 80. if you left at night and changed planes at DFW it was a 727-200 both ways. This was the month of MAY but i am sure it is still accurate. regardless, i would say at least part of the trip was a 727

I owe you an apology. They did have 767's then. (It was really late when you asked this and I was half asleep) On the return, if you left PHX at 207 am it was an MD80 to DFW and then a 767 to BOS. Later on in the morning they used 727's for both legs. They also flew to BOS from PHX by way of JFK. That's kind of interesting. Now on the trip from BOS to PHX Disregard everything I said before. At 7 20 am they used a 727-200 to DFW and then a DC10 to PHX.. In the afternoon they used 727-200's on both legs. Then in the evening they used a 727-200 to DFW from BOS and an MD80 to PHX. They sure didn't make this easy on us did they? Therefore I have no clue which aircraft you were on.

Thanks for the info! I also need help on another flight in about the same time period if you can help me. It was from Manchester, NH to Greensboro, NC. I don't know the airline(s) and I belive I stopped in BOS.

This one looks tough because it doesn't list any single carrier between those two cities. it does show manchester to boston on some outfit called Precision using beech 99, piper navajos, and twin otters. Also Bar harbor used Convairs on that route. If that's the case it probably connected with eastern at BOS, but then eastern would have required additional connections in Laguardia, Charlotte, or National. Piedmont is the only carrier shown with non-stops between Boston and Greensboro using a 727-200. Sorry I wasn't much help. By the way, EAL used DC9's, Airbus 300's, and 727's in their frequencies. Any more questions just ask.

1985, at that time the fleet at American consisted of B727-100/200's, a few MD-80's, B767-200's and DC-10's.
From Boston to Dallas you probably were on a DC-10, and from Dallas to Phoenix you must have been in a 727, because at that time the 727 was the aircraft flown the most on domestic routes. The MD-80 was new, so was the 767-200. But like I said, the 727 was mainly what the domestic fleet consisted of in the 1980's.
Any more question?
