I hear that the runway furthest from the terminal, not sure the number, will be closed this Tuesday on for repaving...anybody hear anything to confirm this? I cannot wait until they do this, all departures and landings will be done using the runway closest to the ramp where I work....that 777 lifting off close to you is quite a sight!

The San Jose newspaper reported last week that the runway construction caused concerns from controllers about the potential for aircraft congestion and delays at SJC. The concern was that fog would impact operations on the remaining runway. Also, some taxiways will be closed at the same time.

To avoid the fog, the project has now been split into 2 phases. The first phase will last the next 6 months. There will then be a break during the winter. Next summer the project will be completed.

Apparently this project is occuring at the same time as runway work at both OAK and SFO.
