Looks like Air Canada will get some competition on the Vancouver-Honolulu route:

According to the press release, they are expanding to Burbank as well! With the commencement of Hawaiian's ONT service, there will be non-stop service to Hawaii from LAX, SNA, BUR, and ONT! Who would have thought that would happen?

Good for YVR, BUR, and Aloha!

Wow, amazing...I just checked Aloha's website, out of curiousity, to see what their fares are like on OAK - HNL. The search came back with something like $460 round trip! That's unheard of. Now, if I could just get to OAK cheaply...

Way to go, Aloha!!!

Air Pacific already flies YVR-HNL 1x/week with the 738.

Panam, TWA, Ansett, Eastern.......AC next? Might be good for Canada.

Isn't the HNL just a stopover in the flight from YVR to NAN? It's pretty long for a 737....

YVR-HNL with 738? That sounds rather long for any 737. And originating where - Suva?

Trintocan.

I'll take Hawaiian's 767-300 or UA's 777 to the west coast anyday over Aloha's 737's. It just doesn't seem right to fly in a small 737-700 across the Pacific.

I recently flew on Aloha from OAK to HNL...

To my surprise, it was simply awesome. I purchased a first class seat and was so impressed with the top quality service.

Aloha's 737-700 planes are incredibly comfy and well configured, even in coach class.

They definitely get a thumbs up from me.

Have a great day...
Patrick

I don't care what plane I fly, as long as its cheap. And that's something Aloha should do, while taking a bit out of AC's dominance. Don't they fly 2 daily during to high times to HNL and once daily to Maui?

Welcome to Anet SFO747.

Yes, AC flies 2x daily to HNL from YVR in the winter (744, 343/763 on 2nd flight) and daily YYZ-HNL. I agree....time for some competition.
