just a short note on the latest happenings here at aircan/cdn land received a bulletin last nite from the employee pass dept stating that as of the 24 of jan. air can and cdn employees can now use our passes on both airlines which will certianly make things nice when I fly to japan or down to south america. We had a meeting with our line maint manager who had just come back from a westrn swing thru the cdn stations ,they had for the most part a hospitable meeting with yyc being the most eager to be done with the merger, yvr was a little more intense with some sharp words and more anxiety however after some of the rumors were dealt with and reminding people that cdn is loosing approx 1mil a day and stand to loose 130mil for the year cooler heads prevailed apparently when they went to yeg the biggest concern was when do our air can passes kick in and who gets to park closest to the door . On the subject of repainting the fleet the first a/c to be painted is a 767 and will have the maple leaf on the tail and canadian down the side of the fuselage with the goose as part of it and white of course as for layoffs well I can tell you that if you know anyone who wants to be a F/A or wants to come work in the hanger come on down wer'e in need of people also the pilots are having to up their flying hours to keep up the biggest problem is that cadns employees are either 30 and 40 year people or just started yesterday as a matter of fact merger gurus at head office are now saying that there will probably be no buy-out packages certianly for at least the next year or so anyway work is good lots of planes in the hanger to play with which reminds me better get ready for work day 3 hump day.

No AC is NOT getting "rid" of its DC-9's thank you very much.

When will the nasty DC-10's of Canadian be dumped?

Aca320, I have some questions for you. Is Line 3 up and running yet? Which check line is doing AC's aircraft? Which aircraft are you working on, and are you working on phase check, lines 1, 2, or 3?

I believe AC did retire some DC-9's. They were supposed to retire them all as soon as they started recieving the A319's. They have 17 left now and I hope they're there for a while

Sorry didn't get back to ya sooner just finished day 4 its tough when your not on the same time zone as every one else. I work line maintenance as a cat 1 so wer'e on 9pm to 7:40 am yes they've started line 3 an yes they are still running the mod line and yes it is a mess with having to put a bus in the middle of the hanger ( 1 that is ) and line 3 on one side and phase on the other and us sometimes trying to put a couple of busses and a dc9 on the other side like the other nite I'll have to try and get up in the rafters and get a pic to try to give some idea of the crowding but ya know wouldn't have any other way. As for line 3 they doing a pintle pin mod H2 check right now on fin 202 our airplane line 1 and 2 are doing AWA who are pushing us to do more a/c heard that they were asking if we could do their 757,s (yes we have that capability) also some talk of doing skyblue apparently they dropped by a couple of weeks ago to check us out and then theres air jamacia air cubana canadian (yes we will be doing their umm I mean our 320's) etc etc if this keeps up we will building that new line maint hanger sooner than ya think anyway thats all for now folks will keep ya posted.
