Qantas Airways Ltd. faces a fine of at most AU$100 000 after allowing 17 suspected Chinese immigrants to go MEL to LAX on QF39 last Wednesday.

QF now faces a fine of about U$50 000 according to the Los Angeles Times.

Bryan Branston, QF SVP said, ""adheres to rigorous security and procedural protocols in checking and boarding passengers."

The smuggler managed to escape the Immigration and Naturalisation Service of the USA. Pity.
