How Much Market Research Do The Airlines Do?

Presumably, the airlines do extensive research on O & D traffic when contemplating adding new routes. Which is just smart business.

But how much research do they do on their existing customers? Do any of them keep track of customers' attitudes toward the airline, or measure how valuable certain aspects of service are to customers?

Yes, they do a LOT of that.

Focus groups, questionnaires, targeted mailings.. all of existing customers, especially elite members.
