not sure if anyone knew, but NW will be getting the A330 in june of 2003,and At th e same time NW will also be changing the business class seats as well. The new 757-300 will be online by this coming june. If this is old news to anybody then sorry i'm late.

I think the 753s come in July though, not June. I heard Sept for the 330s? I guess we'll find out. Can't wait for those new WBC seats!

Quite likely, as they will replace the DC-10-30s on the intercontinental routes and Schiphol has the highest density of those (with about a dozen a day, every day).

A question about the A330's...Since they aren't considered heavy(i think) and my guess is that they rise much quicker than the DC10's is this true? About how much faster of a climb do you think they will take? I live on the Departure route for DTW and i see all the european flights fly over head at 18,000 feet or so about 20mins after they leave. I listen to them on my scanner also but now with the a330's i'm worried they will rise much quicker and i wont have good viewing of the international flights except for the NW747's and LH A340. What do you think will happen? Just any thoughts doesn't have to be in detail.

Since NW does not operate any ETOPS flights as of yet, they will have to go through the process of becomming a certified airline. So, the first cities will likely be domestic cities while the proving runs are taking place. Then I would guess AMS from DTW will be the first route, but I've heard LGW is the launch city pair. Only marketing really knows I guess...

Neilap - don't worry, you'll get to still see the planes over your house. These are actually a bit larger than the DC10s, but probably not that much more of a rocketship.

To build up cycles and experience, the first few months will likely see US domestic service only. MSP-DTW/MEM/LAX etc.

Panam, TWA, Ansett, Eastern.......AC next? Might be good for Canada.

I thought it was going to be a MSP flight, not DTW. But maybe im only heard a rumor. Will NW ever add more europe flights (CDG, FRA, etc.) out of MSP? Lots of people connect there, so I wonder if that will ever happen.

No, NW is redesigning WBC seats. But its going to take time to get them all manufatured and installed.

Actually as I stated in a previous post, the VP of Inflight Services as mentioned the complete redesign of all interiors, the possibility of a rebrand as well as new uniforms.

There have been rumors of IFE installation on the A320 fleet to make all safety demos the same on all aircraft as well as something for pax on longer flights.

Personally, I am expecting some big big things from NW in the next few years!

No announcement has been made on where the 330s will first fly to... it is assumed based on odds, that DTW will see them first. DTW is the main European gateway, so I doubt we'll see anything more than what there already is in MSP.

No official announcement has been made about the new WBC seats, but internally there has been talk for a long time. They'll arrive later this year apparantly and be retrofitted into the whales first and the 330s will be delivered with them. BTW, the 330s arrive next summer I believe.
