I went spotting at IAD this afternoon. I sat in my car in a parking lot near runway 19R. When I got there, a Landcruiser was already parked in my favourite spot, so I parked next to it. There's usually no one around so I paid little attention to the LandCruiser.

It was my lucky day and I saw a dozen 747-400s and 777 landing within an hour.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Little did I know there was a couple in the LandCruiser, and they were really getting lucky inside...  Big thumbs up I only foud out when they finished and stepped out of the vehicle half an hour later. (saw them pulling up their pants, kissing, etc, etc.....) I didn't want to embarass them(or myself), so I kept silent and turned my car and scanner off.
They drove off without realizing I was right next to them...  Wow!

This has got to be the most bizzare plane-spotting experience I've ever encountered...  Smokin cool

Same thing once happend at DEN....About a month or two ago a couple pulled up to the fence, got out, and got busy....Had to ask N737MC if I was seeing things....Quite an odd thing to see right next to an active runway. Ry

At least they were in a car.
Several years ago I was at PHX. I was on top of the T4 garage watching for HP 320s. I happened to look to my left and, not 20 feet from me was a couple against the wall happily going at it. That woman sure had a wicked smile as they left.

Damn, this website is getting worse daily.

I once saw a couple testing the shocks on a hatch-back out at Boeing's lot here at YYZ. I'm surprised the tires didn't burst due to the tremendous pressure(s) being applied. It was quite hilarious to see the car bounce like that.

There is a small parking lot on Post Rd. which is along 12R/30L at MSP which is not a bad place for spotting, but is also a place for people to go "enjoy each other"...

well, dont be surprised people, one time there were a couple doing it in the plane!

i was traveling from AMS to IAD and seated in the middle seats, the couple beside me who were seated accross the aisle in the window seat did some thing strange, she was kissing him, and then she covered her self with the blanket, took a glas under it, and the husband or the boy friend had his hand there for almost 20 minuites.
sorry folks, never seen some thing like that happen to me on Emirates airlines when working, so when i saw that... i was like "WHAT!"

Fly_emirates, some countries require a DNA sample for immigration. Hence the glass.  Wink/being sarcastic Big grin  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Even in Singapore you get to see heaps of cars near the runway.

Of course at first I thought "Wow, we do have many aviation enthusiasts don't we!"

That was until I noticed the fogged up window panels on some cars, coupled with shields.... hmmmm.

There is a name for doing it on an airplane.
Its called "The Mile High Club". It happens
quite frequently and in fact their is a website
that details all of the umm arrivals and shortcomings..

My guess would be that people that do it while
spotting are more interested in getting their jets
in high gear instead of watching them...

Never seen that on Lithuanian Airlines, even if I fly much with it. I guess Lithuanians are too cold for that... And, by the way, if FA would see that and tell the pilot, the couple could get up to several months in jail for hooliganism.
