From todays Austin American-Statesman:

Layovers don't look so bad from the ABIA concourse

Searching for one of the coolest airports in the country?

It's right in our back yard, according to at least one source. Austin was ranked one of the top 5 U.S. airports for "just hanging around," according to an article in the April 15 issue of Newsweek titled "Waiting for takeoff." What makes ABIA the place to wait? Live music and "the best bathrooms anywhere," Newsweek said. The bathrooms got points for cleanliness, big mirrors and ceramic tiles with regional themes.

The airport isn't resting on its laurels: Executive Director Jim Smith said a massage station has opened across from Gate 12, in a pilot program to see whether travelers would enjoy a good rubdown to erase their tensions.

"Travelers are definitely taking advantage of the service," Smith said.
