Probably a military charter. Icelandair's popular trans-Atlantic operations provide Americans an affordable way to Europe via Iceland and Icelandics easy accsess to the US. A majority of Americans flying BWI-REK continue on to other European cities.

The Norfolk/Baltimore to Iceland run is a regular run on behalf of the US Dept of Defense.

Several carriers including Miami Air, ATA, World Airways, North American, Polar Air and Evergreen to name a few operate quasi scheduled service passenger and cargo flights on behalf of the military.

Flights are operated worldwide linking US and foreign military facilities.

From the desert to the sea, to all of Southern California

I didn't notice Norfolk airport located was. The airport is not at Norfolk International (ORF). It flew out of Norfolk NS Naval airport (NGU). Miami Air carries military to Iceland then go somewhere in Europe later today.

Hi there,

I fthe aircraft is G-XLAD with the blue tail and engines then it belongs to Excel Airways in the UK (who i work for).
During the winter we lease 1-2 a/c out to miami air for the busy periods. It normally comes back to the uk via iceland and it is actually due to be back with us very soon.
So it could be that its on its way back to us.

Many thx
