Would there be a market and place enough for a competitor to LOT... their bvrand is very strong in Poland more Polish than anything else.... But I still think there would be enough demand for another airline maybe a specialized airline on domestic and charter flights.....
what is your opinion is LOT to strong for a competitor or not?

Any competition is a good thingasit reduces air fares and increases the amount of people travelling. Here in Ireland since Ryanair was set up airfares have dropped and the amount of people travelling has rocketed.I hear ryanair are going to fly to Warsaw so LOT better watch out!

i tend to think NOT at the present time.
LOT recorded in 1998 a 152.1 million (PLN) profit on operations and a 1.9 million (PLN) group profit. (typically .5 is the exchange to U.S. Dollar)
This is improvement from the previous two accouting years.
LOT transports domestic, European and international customers on their aircraft and codeshares.
LOT has begun climatizing itself as a more western functioning airline, western practices, product, accounting, aircraft, etc.
LOT provides both domestic traffic needs as mentioned and also charter.... the domestic load factor is around 52% and the charter market has grown significantly, but the numbers are still low.... allowing LOT to operate within it's own infrastructure but i think it would be hard for a non-polish company dropping in for charter traffic.
The Polish economy and dispossible household income is still very low and impracticle for the general public to travel....
i would though buy LOT stock at some point in time because i think that they are here to stay and with western thinking behind that big desk....

First of all I happen to be Polish and I fly on LOT a lot and the airport at Warsaw is small and another competitor for LOT would mean major lines waiting to get to the gates and yes the tickets are not cheap for the Polish family. Some news for you the average Polish family makes around 4 zloty and hour that is 2 American dollars so you do the math but the service is great they give you huge worm meals on 45 min flights I don't hear of any U.S airline doing that so I think that the U.S airlines have competition with LOT.
