Charter Airlines: Are Premium Cabins Worth The £?

Hi everyone,

In the summer me and my mate will be going to the Carribean on a package holiday with one of the major UK companies- so that normally means flights on a charter airline.

We're looking at The Bahamas and The Dominican republic, both of which are served by JMC Airlines. My mum flew JMC recently (shorthaul) and said they were very good- except the legroom!

We all know the legroom on charters isn't the best in the world and that's why (being 6"2) I'm willing to pay the £200rtn extra it will cost to upgrade to JMC+.

But is it really worth it? I know that on most charters the premium cabin only has about 5 inches more legroom (at around 34") so it's not an amazing size, but I guess because of my height 10+ hours in the standard cabin would be Hell!

I have a few questions:

* I know Airtours' premium cabin is only 7 seats across (## ### ##) but Monarchs is a cheeky 8 across
(## #### ##) like on a scheduled airline's economy! But what configuration is JMC+?

* Is the seat pitch 34"?

* Does the premium cabin on JMC have actual PTVs or are they just seat back screens with just one channel, like in the rest of the cabin?

* Are the meals upgraded? Is there a choice?

* I've got a picture of the new JMC+ seats and they look very comfy- are they?! And are they cream coloured leather like the photo shows?

* I'd love to hear your experiences and opinions of premium cabins you've used on any charter airline.

That's about it!
Even if it's just a few inches more legroom and nothing much else I think that it's worth splashing out an extra £200 pp rtn - just to save my legs!

Thanks for your help!

anyone?

Just another question:
What's the average return price that Cubana offers LGW-Havana in business class in August?

This is off the topic as I have never flown on a UK charter airline and I don't know Cubana's price. But I saw you were thinking of either going to the BAHAMAS or The DR or maybe even Cuba. Look at the DR very closely, you'll have a blast if you go to either Puerto Plata or Punta Cana, they have some awsome beaches and great resorts.

Hey,

I also highly recomend the Dominican Republic. Did a little research on Punta Cana especially and it seems like a fantastic place, my family and I may be taking a trip to Punta Cana soon. The beaches and resorts look fantastic.

Best Regards,
