Im due to start with Transjet Airways and will be based at lgw.
Can anyone tell me what it is like to work as cabin crew on the MD83 and 747-200 as this is what i will be trained on.
We will have 2 MD83's at LGW and 1 747-200 will be based at Manchester.
The MD's have a set flying programme for summer and the 747 will be used for ad-hoc charter work,subcharters etc.
The MD's use to be in service with Air Liberte in france and the 747's are from Tower Air and Aeromar, if this makes any difference.
Hope someone can help me with the above.Ive heard that the MD83 can be quite hard to work in...is this true.They seem very narrow and long.The 747,well, i will be pleased to have a chance to work on one of the greatest aircraft ever made.

I worked on 747-100/200 with Virgin Atlantic for many years and loved every minute! We had lots of varying interior layouts with regards to galleys etc including G-VMIA which had lower galley pits in the cargo hold! Fantastic fun to work down there, all hell could be breaking loose in the cabin but you didn't care!!
My favourite though were G-VBEE VPUF VSSS VZZZ and VIBE which we got from ANZ. They were different in as much as we had straight staircases betwwen doors 1 instead of the usual spiral one and the interior had been refitted with -400 hatracks etc. A lay-person would not have been able to tell the difference between the two as they also had the full 21 chanell IFE system at phones at every seat!
From a safety training point of view the exits are quite complex. Slide.rafts at doors 1,2,4 and 5, off wing ramps and slides at doors 3 and a very steep, narrow and very high single lane slide from the upper deck! The doors all have different manual inflation handles to remember and all in different locations so get learning and let me know how you get on!
