LAHORE—Pakistan Airline Pilots Association (PALPA) Executive Committee has decided to move court against Khurshid Anwar, Chief Operating Officer, PIA, for his defamatory statement to Public Account Committee (PAC) against pilots, engineers and various staff unions.
“All pilots have unanimously condemned the statement which he made just to conceal his gross inadequacies as Chief Operating Officer and also as the previous Deputy Managing Director in PIA”, Capt. N.A. Bucha, President PALPA said.
Khurshid Anwar has blamed everyone in the airline except himself for his lack of vision, business acumen, understanding of the complexities of the working of a modern airline, Capt. Bucha said.
“He has been painting a rosy picture as to how he has been instrumental in the turnaround of the airline, which is quite contrary to the ground realities, in spite of the fact that the government had aided the airline with more than Rs 10 billion”, President PALPA said.
Capt. Bucha said that PALPA Executive Committee has therefore decided to move court against Khurshid Anwar for defamation, and is also in the process of compiling his performance for which he (Khurshid ) was responsible during his various tenures as Deputy Managing Director in PIA, Shaheen Airlines, and other travel associated organisations like Bukhari Travels etc.
“It is evident that Khurshid Anwar is proving himself to be incapable of holding this high office of the Chief Operating Officer of PIA to carry this airline forward”, Capt Bucha said.
He said that such derogatory remarks have caused mental anguish to all pilots in order to avoid an embarrassing situation, the Managing Director PIA should restrain Khurshid Anwar from traveling any PIA flight until the matter is resolved.
Flight Engineering National Association (FENA) also condemned the remarks of Khurshid Anwar.
