I noticed BA and United have nearly the exact fleets.

United:
747
777
767
757
A320
A319
BAe 146
Jetstream

BA:
777
747
767
A320
A319
757
BAe 146
Jetstream

With the exception of the A321 and CRJ, they are almost the same.

CO and DL also have very similar mainstream fleets (not including subsidaries), they both have:
757
767
777
737

UAExpress has CRJs! Only the 321 doesn't fit! Aloha and Southwest and Ryanair and bmibaby and all those other low-costs have fleets of 737s!

One explanation for the DL and CO similarity is that they both are dedicated to Boeing. CO's president is of course a former Boeing exec, and DL is just too 'conservative' to order a non-Boeing product.

Its also interesting that DL and CO come up periodically as possible merger partners. In fact, they have had high level discussions at various times over the years about this. I assume their fleet similarity is a big reason why they both are attracted to each other.

The only meaningful similarity I can think of between UA and BA is their importance in the 777 program. I think UA was the first domestic and BA the first international carrier to fly it, and of course they were heavily involved with Boeing in the design phase. Other than that UA and BA don't seem paritcularly similar to me.

kind regards,

RogueTrader

In the 70's CO and NA had 727's/DC-10's only before mergers/buyouts. Always thought that would have been a good combo.

Are there any other airlines with the same (almost same) fleets?

PIA and Air India have a similar fleet:
A300
747
A310

Southwest and Ryanair have similar fleets. What about the other low-cost carriers?
