Why Doesn't Mexicana Fly To Iah?

I have always wondered this. Is there too much competition from Aeromexico, Aerolitoral, Aviacsa, Continental? I know Mexicana flies to places such as Laredo, San Antonio, etc. Does Aeromexico and Mexicana stay out of eachother's way? Does DFW get Mexicana service?

AM and MX don't compete except in ORD, LAX, MIA, and JFK. They're both owned by Cintra so competing against each other is counterproductive.

And even at each of those airports, one out of the two has a clear upper hand.

Hopefully this will change someday.

Mexicana does not fly to IAH because only two mexican airlines can serve a US airport. Since 6A and AM serve IAH, Mexicana can't do it.

Mexicana has rights to fly to DFW but they don't use the rights.

Is that true? I have never heard of that before. Who's law is that? So there isn't one U.S. airport out there with more than 2 Mexican carriers? I believe at IAH there used to be 3, Aeromexico/Aerolitoral, Aviacsa, and Aeromar. What is the point of that law?

To LAX, AeroCalifornia, AeroMexico and Mexicana offer their service.

To LAS, AeroMexico, Mexicana, Aviacsa and Allegro.

To IAH, AeroMar, AeroMexico-Aerolitoral and Aviacsa.

And I heard, Aviacsa was trying to get a route to LAX.

Ah, IAH is close enough to the border for the quick swim and run.. no use for a flight from Mexico to IAH, the loads would never justify the flight Big grin...

I think that what Rojo meant was that only two Mexican airlines can fly any U.S. - Mexico route, along with two American carriers of course.

because continental flies to la cuidad mexico. why send a two seven on a two hour flight to another airlines hub while they can fly high paying americans to places like oh, say, sunny Oaxaca?
