This got deleted from the Trip Reports forum (despite asking about an upcoming trip) and was told to repost here..soo..here we go!
Ok, my uncle used his FF miles (he is an elite or whatever they are at Delta :-P) to book me a ticket from LAS-ATL on July 19, 2002, and then a flight from ATL-BOI via ORD and SLC (woo! hehe) on July 25.
Since he booked the tickets, but they are under my name, will I have a chance at an upgrade, since he is high up in the FF program? (not a chance I know! just thinking I could maybe use this to my benefit!! we have the same last name :-P)
Also, will there be any service of any kind on these flights? LAS-ATL and then ATL-ORD-SLC-BOI??
Also, I have never connected @ ORD or SLC. How are they connection wise for Delta (I know SLC is a hub, but still! hehe). Also, my layover @ SLC is almost 3 hours...what is there to do? Is there a nice sitdown restaurant or anything I could use to pass the time?
Any information would be appreciated..PS I have searched around on thie forum, and can't seem to determine much on the routes I am flying.

You will not be able to upgrade because:
1) you are travelling on an award ticket which are not upgradable. You can, however, use miles to upgrade revenue tickets.
2) you can not upgrade based on your father's status unless he is travelling with you and you're on a revenue ticket and uses a North American Medallion Upgrade for you which are confirmable at the time of reservation and can be used for a companion.
You may wish to stand-by for a nonstop ATL - SLC flight which would be permissable on an award ticket. I'm sure DLSFO and others could probably give you some more info on this. Enjoy your trip.

At ORD, assuming you can get into the AA terminal(they are right next to each other, DL uses a finger of the AA terminal) there is a nice food court. Nothing ultra gourmet, but good food none the less.
Assuming you cannot get into the AA areas, I cannot help you there.
Give me a break, I created this username when I was a kid...

How would I go about getting waitlisted? Just call up Delta and tell them I want to get on a direct ATL-SLC flight? If I do that, I should then do the same for the SLC-BOI portion? Or just get a flight later in the day?
I got lots of nice answers about ORD! Anything in particular people recommend?
I won't have that long at ORD, but I WILL be on a 3 hour layover at SLC. Is there any nice restaurants to eat at in the airport or anything to do?

I've not been able to obtain tickets on delta.com for my family when I am not one of the travelers, whether by credit card or FF miles. Your dad will need to phone in.
Generally, one can buy tickets for anyone, but if using FF miles, I think there may be restrictions (to family members only?)
As far as names on bookings....the passenger's name must be on the ticket -- you won't (or shouldn't) be able to get past Security with your father's name on the ticket, unless his is identical to yours.

Your best shot BOI-LAS would be on SWA, they run 2 direct flights, 1858 departs at 8:55, and 1152 departing at 15:35. Delta only runs 2 flights to BOI, 1405 (B-737) departing SLC at 11:05 arriving in BOI at 12:08, and 819 (B-727) leaving SLC at 22:10 and arriving in BOI at 23:13. Skywest runs 7 flights a day SLC-BOI (CRJ). I don't know if you can transfer to SKY, but they'd give you more options. I might just be the one fueling your A/C when it gets to BOI, so enjoy your trip!

The flights I am looking at from Boise are on SkyWest from BOI-SLC at 8:15pm on July 31 and from there connect to a 767-300 for the SLC-LAS leg and arrive in Vegas around 11pm.
If southwest can do a one way fare, I can't seem to find it, that would be great.
However, the late flight would be great since my cousin wants to spend most of the day at the Porsche parade or whatever up there in Boise (he lives there, his dad works for HP, but he insists on draggin me along).

I just looked it up on the website, and it was $93 (SWA). Also, since it wasn't really addressed, SLC has a few good bars. One is a small brew pub, but I can't recall the name. SLC has a pretty decent terminal, it's the only one I know of you can smoke in! I like it better than DFW or some others.
