I'm think MAS air cargo is the freight division of Malaysian airlines. I've seen a MAS air cargo 747 before, but I didn't think they had DC-8s.
Did the plane have a red and blue stripe and white on top like a Malaysian plane?

No. I saw a DC8 on thursday and I saw a DC8 land friday
night. The paint job was all forest green with MASAIR in
white letters on the front near the front.

MAS is Malaysian Airline System....BUT, me thinks ( long shot ) that this particular aircraft is a Mexican originating flight and carrier.
There is a MASair in the "aero parts" page on the web.
Therefore, I suspect (especially as the aircraft was green ! The Mexican color) that it is Mexcan Air Services operating MEX or GUD to LAX Airport.
I also believe these DC8's were leased to them by Fast Air out of Miami.

You are right Roy, it is a Mexican cargo airline. I found the following information on a site:

Name: MASAIR DE CARGA, S.A. DE C.V.
Code: MY
Country: MEXICO
