Anyone Dislikes The A310 Because It Is Short?

as in the topic.. i myself love planes with the fuelsage like the A300 and B767... however, the A310 gives me a feeling that it is crippled.. so, anybody dislikes the A310 because of its pethetic length? too short and fat.

sure, it does not look too balanced with respect to length and diametre.

however, i like it because it is short. what would be the alternative when you want the same number of seats? make it looong and thin. i just recently spend some time in a long tube (753) and must say that i really prefer a widebody.

this is why i like it.

I think it looks cool, and I feel that nothing can look to short (well... anything that is flying today), however the 777-300 and 757-300 look way too long, the A340-600 is not so bad because of the larger engines, and 4 instead of 2.

I think the short fuselage on both the 762 and A310 makes those birds much cuter than their bigger sisters.

Well, put it this way, it's never gonna win a airplane beauty contest. It might not be as long and sleek looking like a A340/777 but it's definitely not one of more stylish looking aircraft either. A bit like the 737, short and chubby. But a great aircraft anyway.

Although the overall length of the A310 is only a few feet shorter than the narrowbodied 757-200, I think it is quite a mean looking mutha'.

The cabin length on the Airbus is only slightly shorter than the comparable 767-200, though the Boeing has a narrower body. People seem to constantly bang on about the impressive take off performance of the 757, but I have witnessed some excellent A310 departures - They can climb quite quick, even with a heavy load.

Going back to width - The A310 can also carry industry standard LD3 containers, so it is capable of a decent cargo load. The 'stubby' bus looks rather nice in the Air Transat colourscheme....
