With the new generation of aircraft flying 18 hours at a time - what is the longest non-stop commercial service?

What about LAX to Bombay, New York-HKG?

I must say - I think the thought of an 18 hour flight in economy sounds like torture!

Right now, I think it's ERW-HKG served by Continental. Utilizing a 777.

I think this topic has been discussed numerous times already. It is Continental EWR-HKG with B777 eqipment, operates non-stop both directions all seasons. Other routes such as JHB-JFK dont count because they involve a technical stop in one direction.

Hello,

This should be Continental's EWR-HKG route with 11,805km (7,337miles).

You are all wrong. It is South African Airways service from Atlanta to Jo'burg. True, it is operated only non-stop on the eastbound leg but it is still the longest nonstop. About 8400 statute miles. EWR-HKG I believe is longer in time though but not miles due to prevailing winds. Hope that clears things up.

Ok, before this starts out again with a

longest in terms of flying time
longest in terms of distance
longest nonstop
longest multistop ...

please do use the SEARCH BUTTON and you'll find tons of this exact topic. And they are pretty recent so nothing much has changed.

I guess the longest flight in time is EWR-HKG approximately 15 hours and 30 minutes

I think ATL-JNB is approximately 14 hours and 45 minutes

In miles: EWR-HKG= 8,065 miles
ATL-JNB = 8,431 miles

Actually, the longest future route would be US Airways codeshare to outerspace. Although, since you end up where you took off, maybe it's the shortest route....

Geeezzzz!!! I'm getting so sick annd tired of reading this in every other thread. Can the self-appointed thread police please just give it a rest? Who cares if it was discussed six months ago? There would be precious little discussion here if there was no reurgitation of topics, but so what... This is a discussion forum, is it not?
