Hello again:

Just to know if it’s true that Iberia is going to retire his B747-200 that he has and start to bringing new A330 and A340, and if it’s true that he is going to buy them.

Also if someone knows what’s is going to be with the B747-200.

And what are going to be the new routes that the Airbus 330 & 340 are going to substitute

Hello Eduardo,

Iberia is indeed considering a replacement for its 747-200 fleet as well as the 747-300s leased from Air Atlanta Icelandic.

Airplanes under consideration are the Airbus A340-600, and (officialy at least) Boeing 777-200ER, 777-300ER and 747-400.

You may have a look at Boeing's webpages (published in 2000) for Iberia.

Thanks for your information,

I knew that Iberia wanted just to have AIRBUS on his fleet the only Boeing aircrafts are B747(200/300) and B757-200
And just wanted to get out the B747-200 I didn’t know about the B747-300.
To Mexico send the B743 and sometimes the B742.

You don’t have the exactly number of aircrafts on replace and the new aircrafts of substitution?

Six B742 and three B743 will be replaced in the coming years. Five A300 will leave the fleet within the next months. The 18 B757s, 13 MD-88 and 24 MD-87 won't leave that early. So it's still a long time until IB has an all-Airbus fleet.
By the way, I don't see a real chance for the B773ER, the A346 will most likely be chosen.

Regards
Udo

The MD-80's will stay for the forseable future in the fleet. Perhaps they will replace them with 717 or A-318.
Some months ago there was an article in a spanish aviation magazine about that. One of Iberia's directors has said there that Iberia is interested in the 717...but this means nothing...

Well I personally don’t think that Iberia would be interested to replace his MD80 to B717 I just think the best choice for Iberia would be the A319 or new A318.
Does anybody know the registration of the aircrafts that are going to be retired?
For B742 and B743
