We had a surprise visitor at YYT (St. John's, NF) yesterday. A brand spanking new Delta Airlines Boeing 767-432 was here doing crosswind testing. I was on board the a/c when I was working this evening.
The plane is here doing tests and is not actually Delta's property yet, just in their livery. I was talking to the crew (who were Boeing employees) and they were sitting around waiting for some high winds so they could start testing.
It is a very beautiful a/c. It is streched 28 feet longer than the -300 series, it has the same landing gear as the B-777, except it only has a four gear bogie instead of six. The flight deck is almost the same as the 777 as well, except for a few minor differences. The wing is noticably different from the 767-200 and -300, with the wing tips being changed so much. Other than that, the exterior looks much the same. The -432's have the same GE engines as the rest of Delta's 767 fleet.
The interior was full of test equipment and ballast tanks. There was no wall panaling installed, no galleys, and only lav, up front. In the back of the plane, you could walk right back to the pressure bulkhead, and there was a huge winch for the test drome.
The registration was N826MH, and the number on the fin was 1802. This was the second 767-400 to roll off the assembly line.
It was pretty neat knowing that I was one of the first people to be on the new 767-400. The interior smelled nice as well. I took some pics of the inside as well. If I can get access to a scanner, I will post them.
I would like to see Air Canada order some of the 400's, but I would'nt hold my breath waiting for it.

There were no production seats on the plane, only seats for the test crews. These had the four point seat belts as well, used in flight deck seats.
The crew did'nt tell me when Delta would be taking delivery of the 400's. I would say within the next two-three months. If Boeing is still in the testing stages of the project, then it may be spring before the a/c come on line.
Anybody else know delivery and start dates?
