How many A346 have been produced so far? I believe there are three, but I'm not sure. Which of these planes that are flying around now will go to VS? Will they receive the prototype? I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I couldn't remember exactly what was said.

I think that it were 4. Three in Airbus colors, F-WWCA, F-WWCB and F-WWCC and the fourth in VS colors.
F-WWCA will stay with Airbus and F-WWCB/ C will go to VS.
Please correct me if i'm wrong.
Pic was taken on 15/03/02 so might be in VS colours by now - but not seen any pics on A.net. Will probably be hiding in a hanger until the official ceremony/handover to VS.
Virgin are taking 2 of the prototypes - as replacement for the 2 prototype A340-300's that they currently own, which incidentally are the heaviest a/c with the least powerful engines in the A340 fleet which causes us a nightmare on the JNB and HKG routes. So no doubt in the future we will have the same problem with the first 2 A340-600's.

The VS A340-600's will initially see LHR-HKG-LHR and LHR-NRT-LHR roundtrips first.
I think it is possible that VS may assign the A346 to the LHR-SFO-LHR route, depending on if flights to SFO require the seating space of the 747-400 or not. Otherwise, LHR-SFO-LHR will remain a 744 route.
