Greetings folk...

Do you all mind telling me which airlines to choose to fly into either JFK or EWR on Business Class for the upcoming exhibition in June in New York?

I am departing from PEN and can transit in KUL, SIN or BKK... I also want to collect FF points. I have Krisflyer, Enrich gold, Royal orchid silver, The Marco Polo (and asia miles), Mileage plus, world perks, evergreen, and golden lotus.

Thank you.

It would also be great if any of you kno the fares roughly.

Continental pretty much run the show at EWR, so I would recommend flying with them

Flying time (duration) is also a concern beacuse as soon as we get on the ground we are heading towards the exhibition hall... not sure where it is yet... but flying CO would mean going via HKG how will the flight time be viable compared to flyin thru europe.?

The CO 98 from HKG>EWR is about 14.5 hours nonstop service. I am not sure the times going the other way.

Try CO's flight flight from HKG-EWR, or NRT-EWR.

Or take Singapore who serves both EWR and JFK, fly into one and out the other.

Also take the Airtrain if your traveling into EWR, 20 minutes to Manhattan on either Amtrak or NJ Transit.

CO is good from Asia and isn't too big of a deal to fly into EWR. The train from EWR to the city isn't 20 minutes though, it's more like 30-45 minutes. There are a lot more selections into JFK, but mainly with non-US carriers. The train from there isn't too bad. It's a $1.50, but an hour and a half ride, right up the West Side though so you also eliminate money transfering from Penn to the subway, as well as time. (I mean, after 14 hours on a plane for me, what's another hour compared to 30 minutes?). If you're going to columbus circle for example, terminal to columbus circle is from EWR is probably in total about an hour to an hour and 20 minutes via the train. From JFK it's a one seat ride, is about an hour and 30 minutes, but is $1.50.

What STT757 said was good advice. You can fly into/out either JFK or EWR to try them both. That's probably what I would do, just gives you more of a scenery change etc... (garbage dumps in NJ v. the beautiful boroughs of Queens and Brooklyn.. lol ..j/k).

I personally would fly CO to EWR just because it's an American airline company, with American ppl/food/entertainement etc.. Same with DL when they had JFK-NRT service. NW is way too cramped in coach for me. Either way, good luck!

No way 45 minutes all totaled about 30, and it's not a one seat ride to JFK but a hour and 20 minutes on a Subway then a 15 minute bus ride.

Amtrak from EWR is an inter-city train which provides a quick link to EWR, nice large comfy seats plus no graffiti (scratfetti) or homeless people sleeping on you  Big grin

The subway isn't that bad, and once you're it's only like 45 minutes to JFK once you get on. I was including waiting and bus time as well. The train from EWR from what I've heard is nice and convenient but still takes 30-45 minutes just to Penn (with waiting included). The A is every 10 minutes, and is empty at JFK going to NYC so you'll get a seat, goes express in Brooklyn (You miss all the "Bed-Stuy" stops, and it is safe. Granted the train from EWR is safer and more comfortable, but you can't beat the A for a buck 50. Besides, you'll get to ride on one of the R32's or 38's ( I don't remember which the A is operating at this time or if they have both), with the cool bench seats!  Smile lol....

Mostly R32's - almost 40 years old, and still going strong! They should be around for at least another 15 years.
In addition to the bench seats, I like the R32's because they have railfan windows and excellent air conditioning.

Setjet it is the 48th Summer International Fancy Food and Confection Show in New York state and I assume in somewhere about the City Centre...not in Newark , NJ though.

City Centre?. , not Brooklyn or Queens either.

Most likely Jacob Javits center, easiest way to get to the Jacob Javits Center is through EWR and NY Penn station, the Javits Convention center is on the Hudson a short 5 minute ferry ride from Weehawkin for US Jersey folks, a long walk and bus ride for those East Siders Big grin

Yea, it's the 32's then. This summer I actually got them twice once on a trip out to the Rockaways, and another time with my friend Clayton to JFK for plane spotting.

The convention is probably at either the Javits, or it could be in one of the hotels in Midtown (esp. if they have fancy food there, Midtown is more convenient etc.., but the Javits is small). NYC's 3rd airport EWR is the closest to the Javits in terms of miles, and is close to Penn so the train would be convenient for that (although JFK is still much better :P).

Hey STT757 how are those ferry rides? It must suck to have to drive everywhere, have no subway, to have to make that long commute everyday from the dumps to the city.. (lol.. j/k :P). Geez I could never imagine that, i mean having the subway a block from my house and all. The bus ride is actually quite nice on the M34 right along 34th street. It's only about 15 minutes from about Park Av.

Dumps?...

Please I wish NY'ers had that conception of my area, all these NY folks building $800,000 McMansions on Apple Orchards really bugs me, my hometown is actually home to one of the most histioric battles of the Revolution. Our town logo is Molly Pitcher and her cannon, Molly Pitcher fought the British in my town.

I ran into Wayne Chrebet at the Freehold yesterday at the Freehold mall, he lives about ten minutes down the road from me. Other celebs who live near me in Monmouth County, BRUCE Springstein, Jon Bon Jovi (who was they key note speaker at my Graduation at Monmouth University last year, he gave me my diploma), Geraldo Rivera used to come into my store on Rt 35 all the time to buy Koi fish, he lived in Middletown before getting divorced.

So I wish all NY'ers had your conception of NJ, I would'nt be so heartbroken every time a farm is lost

With regards to the Ferries, I either take the NJCL to Hoboken terminal and transfer to the ferry or go to my Girlfriend's Sister's house on the Weehawkin cliffs and tka ethe ferry from there.

NJ is building a real nice ferry Terminal in Weehawkin directly across from the Javits Centerhttp://www.njtransit.com/an_capitalprojects_project067.shtm.

And the Pot Authority is rebuilding the original Erie and Lackawanna ferry slips at Hoboken Terminal , Hoboken Terminal is one of the nicest rail terminals in the US (after Grand Central of course)http://www.njtransit.com/an_capitalprojects_project028.shtm

Both Ferry Terminals will be connected to the Hudson -Bergen Light rail http://www.nycsubway.org/us/hudson-bergen/

Yea i know, i was just busting you balls STT757... lol.. isn't NJ the richest state in the nation or something? I'd still rather live in NYC than NJ though. NJ is considered by a lot of NY'ers as the "armpit" of Westchester, which in fact some places are, but for the most part it's a pretty nice state.

New Jersey is in fact the wealthiest state in the nation on a per-capita basis. Connecticut had long held that title but slipped into third place as a result of the recession of the early 1990's (whose effects are still lingering in much of the state). IIRC, Maryland is #2.

Thanks for admitting NJ is more than brownfields, I was actualy born on Staten Island (enough said Smile ).

Im hoping to move with my girlfriend to either Manhattan next year, or Hoboken. My Aunt said I could sub lease her (rent controlled) apartment on 77th and West End ave she's had since '75. She has a home in Woodstock, and She's spending more and more time there now that She's retired. But her and my Uncle love the city so much they might not be ready to part with their apartment even if it's only for a couple of years.

So plan B is to rent one of the houses my Girlfriend's Father owns in Hoboken, they're not on the Water but just off Washington street . The problem is Hoboken's really popular and her Father might not give us that big of a break considering what he could get for them.
