Saw this on the news section and had to share it!
World Airways also announced that it has landed an MD-11 aircraft at the
Da Nang International Airport, marking the first time the Company has flown
into Vietnam in 27 years. The last World flight was on March 29, 1975, when a
Boeing 727 took off from Da Nang International Airport with 330 people aboard.
This was the last flight out of Da Nang before it fell to the North Vietnamese
military at the end of the Vietnam War. On April 17, 2002, the World Airways
flight departed at 4:45 p.m. from Da Nang to fly to Honolulu, Hawaii, with 74
passengers and 16 crewmembers on board. The passengers were part of a team
working in Vietnam to resolve Missing-in-Action cases from the Vietnam War.
Yes, you read that correctly! 330 people on a 727. Who do they think they are, EL AL? Amazingly the MD11 flight carried fewer pax than the 727!
