Difference Between A340-500 And -600s?

There's actually a couple of things I'd like to know. What's the difference between the A340-500 and the A340-600, the two newest A340 variants coming out?
And what happened to the A340-8000(yes,there are three zeroes!)?? Something tells me it's a dud!

The only difference I know about the two is that the -600 is longer but you probably already knew that.

The main difference is the range and pax. The 500 has a longer range(300-325 pax) about 15000km and the 600 (375-400pax) about 13500-14000 km. The 500 will be the longest range aircraft flying when it enters service in 2001.

Only two(??)were produced.One went to the Sultan Of Brunei.Actually Air Canada wanted to buy them but cancelled the order

Tell me more about the A340-8000. This is the first I've heard of it. What was the range like? how many people? Why did AC cancel their order?
