Anyone have any ideaon where I might be able to fly on a Russian made aircraft for a relatively cheap fare?
I know Aeroflot use TU-154s into most East European destinations to SVO, as well as to ATH, LHR, DUS, FCO, MXP, and OSL intermitently. However, they are not on the cheap side. The deepest discounted fare I can find from WAW to SVO is US$334 return.
As well, Pulkovo and Siberian serve some European destinations with Russian made aircraft.
I wanted to fly on one of StarUp's AN-24s while in Peru a few of months ago, but all flights were sold out. With US$42 each way LIM to Trujillo, it wasn't a bad deal.

I flew from Malta to neighbouring Gozo Island. Cost me 13 EUR one way walk up fare. Equipment was a Mil-8 helicopter. GREAT 15 minute flight. My first and only ride on Russian equipment and my second heli flight.
Getting to Malta first, though, is a little more expensive...

Domestic flights within Russia aren't that expensive. Also Pulkovo sometimes have special fares from AMS to LED, only ar $200 return sometimes.
But if you reside in Mexico, try a Cubana R/T from Cancun. They always dispatch interesting stuff; Yak-42, An-24 and even Il-62s, and I believe it's only about $130 r/t.
nobody has ever died from hard work, but why take the risk?
