1) NW has used all Saabs (Mesaba) until now, but they have just replaced two of the 4 daily flights with CRJs (Express I).
2) It was probably an F-28. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think they're repainting the Fokkers.

Some of the F-28's are in Air Canada's scheme. While these ones were painted early on, they won't be painted into Jazz's colours. Also, there are some F28's in Canadian's old scheme as well as one in a proud wings scheme.

Thanks for the info guys!
By the way, the plane for sure wasnt a Fokker. I only saw the tail of the aircraft from the airport terminal; it was in the most recent Canadian Airlines scheme. From the tail, i would guess that it was a Boeing 737-200. Anyhow i thought it was interesting that they had not painted the tail to the AC norm.
Cap'n Dan, could you tell the approximate YOW departure times of the CRJs and SAABs with NW.

Yeah the NW CRJs don't come until Aug 1st. On an interesting side note, AC is using now using the 319 to LGA on the 1700 departure, daily except Sat.
As for the Canadian 732 that you saw, it was either one of the 2 old CPs that Neil (yyz717) mentioned that have yet to be repainted or, the more likely explanation is that it was Canadian North (5T, yes, unknown to most, Canadian still exists). 5T doesn't have a flight on Saturdays so their aircraft just sits at gate 6 all day until the following morning. I see it along with their 732s in Proud Wings all the time.
CRA F28s are very rare in YOW nowadays. We only get the occassional one as a DND flight, and even that may be done as I believe with the Jazz CRJs all F28s will be moved out west until their retirement at the end of the year.

Technically YOW does have a lot of mainline transborder flights, it's just that they are mainly with AC CRJs, which don't have a "mainline feel" to them.
Here's something else of note...On June 1st, American Eagle is returning to YOW. However, this time it's twice a day to ORD, instead of going back to BOS with ERJ-140s to complement the double daily AA mainline flights.
