If "yes", this makes 3 huge International Aerodromes in the N.Y. area!

But I wasn't entirely sure LaGuardia has "International" status??

It is served by Air Canada from YUL and YYZ so yes it is international.

Int'l airlines serving the airport don't make it international, IIRC. It's if the airport has the customs facilities to handle flights. Example: Washington's National airport has AC flights to/from Canada, but the pax are all cleared in Canada, so DCA is a National airport.

There are flights to Montreal, and Toronto in Canada, Nassau, and Freeport in the Bahamas and Bermuda.

Although these are international flights there is no International arrivals or FIS facility at LGA, passengers are prescreened by US customs officials in Canada, the Bahamas and Bermuda.

Washington Reagan National (DCA) has flights to Toronto , Montreal and starting this Summer Bermuda on US Airways. Again there is no IAB or FIS at DCA either, passengers are prescreened at the aiports in Canada and Bermuda.

LaGuardia is not technically an International Airport. It does handle flights to and from Canada on Air Canada, American Airlines, and Delta Air Lines, and US Airways does operate a limited number of flights to Bermuda and the Bahamas, but passengers are pre-cleared for US customs at their point of origin, not on arrival at LGA. There is no FIS/INS facility at LGA.

It's just like Chicago Midway. It is now a international airport(which means it has it's own US customs area for international passengers to come in). It used to have pre-clearance for Canadain Airlines but that stopped and now it's a running international airport.

Yes, Canadian flew YYZ-MDW in 1989/90. 2 or 3 daily 732's. They had a feed arrangement with Midway Airlines.

I still remember the billboard ads in Chicago saying "Chicago is a now a Canadian city". lol.

Don't forget YOW-LGA on AC as well for international destinations at New York's domestic airport.  Big grin

Hey didn't MDW just become an international airport a couple of months ago? Didn't Mexicana just start flying there? There are no customs pre-clearance facilities in Mexico that I am aware of? Correct me if I'm wrong on that one???

Don't forget Teterboro (TEB) which handles a lot of international GA flights. Guliani flew Teterboro-Tel Aviv a couple of months ago.
Altough, you could argue: There is no FIS/INS facility at TEB, but hey, the airport handles international flights, that's what counts. Who cares if there is customs at the airport?? So a flight from LGA to YYZ is a "domestic" flight then???
