Friday night I was with some friends going out to eat. As we turned in the parking lot, I looked up at saw what at first looked like a UAL 737. But it looked to wide at the altitude it was at. As it turned on its finals back towards MSP I realized it had a full rear mounted engine and that it was a DC-10.
THis was cargo I assume, but I didn't know UA had 10's into MSP for cargo.

That would be a FedEx DC-10. UA retired the last of it's DC-10s several years ago. I must admit to being somewhat surprised that FedEx hasn't painted it yet.
What is it with all the "is there a possibilty airline X will.." threads? The answer it'll is possible.

Really, Feruary 2001? OK. I guess I refer to the ones already converted. Those were, if I'm not mistaken sold to FM, 4 or 5 years ago. No reason to waste money painting them I guess.

I am surprised as to why it still isn't painted in FedEx colors as well. Then again, it hauls freight in the middle of the night when nobody else can see it, so maybe it isn't that big of a deal...
