This past weekend I flew NW from ATL-DTW-PIT and back, im not creating a trip report so I won't get into the details, but I have to say that NW offered worldclass service. The DC-9s were completely refurbished with the "717 style" interior. They were like new in every aspect and very quiet. I am use to DC-9s with leaky door seals that hiss and whine with engines out of sink moaning in the back, none of this on the 3 NW birds i was on... To any pax they would swear they wree on a brand new aircraft. What can i say about DTW other then AWSOME! One of the segments was an RJ-85 opperated by Masaba, and the service was equal, other then a somewhat apparent cockpit problem where it was apparent they were not following checklist/flows, or got distracted due to a ground hold but otherwise the whole experience was A+

Nice to hear positive comments about the red tails on this forum.
Please elaborate on what happened on your Avro flight... I'm curious to know why you're accusing the pilots of not doing their job when the door is closed and you have no idea what they're doing.

Of course I have no clue what goes on behind the locked door, but the standard call for the F/As to be seated for takeoff or a bell ringing never came, in fact the F/A was up and walking around after we crossed the hold short line and jokingly said "i guess we are going" and ran to his jumpseat, the other thing was the fasten seatbelt sign not getting turned on until after pushback... both minor things, and we were on a groundhold and the wx was getting nasty in DTW, but the service was great

Hmmm... yea they're minor but you know we have things that are reminder triggers - like when the FO makes the announcement to prepare for departure, and they chime back we turn on the rwy exit lights. By looking at that switch we know they're ready. I bet they thought they did it but never verified. About the seatbelt... haha - the FO must have got pushback clearence and the pushback happened so fast the captain didn't realize his flow wasn't complete. It happens... I was expecting something more drastic in your reply... but while minor things, could have made a larger problem. Glad you enjoyed your flights!

I flew on NW nines a couple years ago and also found them to be a pleasant surprise. They did look brand new on the inside and were fully comparable to newer aircraft as far as quiet and comfort. Their crews seemed no worse than most airlines and better than many.

My two trips this summer (CID-MSP-DTW-PHL & CID-MSP-BOS) are on NW because I wanted to piss off the people who think that NW is awful. All the bullshit nitpicking didn't influence my travel plans one bit. In 10 days I go to Philly. Can't wait.

Before that I had flown NW last month from MCO to MEM on the Bus and the service again was top notch.. the Electronic services are great with the kiosks, home checkin, and their rebooking service with sprint PCS before that my last flight on NW was in 91 ATL-MEM-CUN on the Diesel 9 and nothing was bad, good meal service (those were the days) and in 90 i did ATL-MSP-LAX-HNL-SFO-DTW-ATL on NW and the service was marginal to good, so I have never had a complaint about NW

Direct means the plane could make 50 stops between LAX and BKK. NONSTOP means it does not stop.
Also if the NRT-BKK flight was delayed I am sure you would be bitching about that on here.
Come on now, I have never heard of anyone bitching about a flight leaving on time. If you friend missed his flight it was his fault as he wrongly assumed it would be delayed.
