Indeed a superfluous topic... Also the header isn't correct;
the PW engined DC-10- 40s will be retired. They were only used domestically and the 752s, 753s, new Airbuses will take over these roles. The GE engined DC-10-30s will continue for a few years, till after the Airbus 330s arrive, on international routes and some occasional former DC-10-40 domestic trunk routes.
nobody has ever died from hard work, but why take the risk?

For those who are inept and can't use the great search feature and for those that will not read the previous replies in this thread... I'll answer.
Only the DC10-40s will be retired. There are only 9 left in the fleet - not 17. They will be gone by September 3 - not 30th. Domestic DC10 flying will be replaced primarily with the 757-300, but there are 757-200 currently on former DC10-40 routes... the 320 may fill in too.
DC10-30s for the Atlantic will be around and though there are 3 parked in Roswell, they won't start to retire until 2003 when the first 330-300 arrives.
While we're at it... the first 75 DC9s as they reach their 100,000 cycle useful life mark will be gradually replaced with the order for 75 319/320 that hasn't started deliveries yet. The rest of the fleet replacement has yet to be announced and is up for weekly speculation.
The last 727 passenger revenue scheduled flight will be later this year. FInal 727 retirement will happen next year with the end of the NBA contract.
A 747-200 was recently retired but a formal fleet retirement plan hasn't been anounced and is ALSO open for weekly speculation.
