How does each airline spell it's name.

2 words: Air Lines or 1 word: Airlines

OK, I know

Delta Air Lines
Eastern Air Lines
I think for UA its United Air Lines

AA is American Airlines
I dunno about NW or TW
Some use Airways...like Southern, I think

UA is spelt United Airlines, not Air Lines. NW is Northwest Airlines. What's TW (sorry not familiar with a few airline codes)?

George Cearley wrote a book about United In the book, he referred to it as United Air Lines. I'll check their annual report.

Delta is technically just Delta once again. There is no Airlines in their name anymore.

Up until recently UA was United Air Lines. As of now it uses Airlines. The two words Air Lines seem to be a nostalgic thing of the past now.

United used to be called United Air Lines, but has since switched to United Airlines. Though Delta just now goes by Delta, it is still Delta Air Lines.

I believe the original post was refering to the airline's incorporated names.

In that case: UAL Corp. owns United Airlines; and DL's incorporated name is Delta Air Lines, Inc.

Yes, DL uses "Delta" as its marketing name, as it is easier than adding the "airline" word in there. But for financial statements, etc. it says Delta Air Lines, and then in parenthesis Delta.

Here are a few that I know:

United Airlines (it used to be United Air Lines)
Northwest Airlines
American Airlines
Southwest Airlines
Trans World Airlines (TWA, not TWAL)
