What books has Ernest Gann written? I just got done with "Fate is the Hunter" last month and it is easily one of if not the best book I've ever read. Has Mr. Gann written any more books? What are your opinions on this writer?

"Blaze of Noon" is great; its about the early days of airmail flying. Also great is "The High and the Mighty" about an episode related in "Fate," as is "Island in the Sky." These last two were made into excellent movies, by the way. He wrote lots of other stuff.

I have a first edition of "Fate." I had it completely memorized when I was a kid.

I have to put in my comment on 'Fate is the Hunter':

It should be required reading for all Pilots early in their training. A timeless classic.

I have a few of Gann's books. Fate is the Hunter is by far my favourite. I also have A Gentleman of Adventure and Song of the Sirens. All three are books that you cannot put down until you're asleep.
The man was a great writer as well as a great man. I had the pleasure of speaking to him several times before his death and he was a true gem.

I guess I'd better add something here. In a previous post I mentioned Gan, St Ex and Rick Drury as the 3 great aviation writers. If I don't add Robert Serling, He'll take back all my signed copies. Sorry Bob.
