I heard that G-BNLB has been ferried to Cardiff for long term storage. Can anyone confirm this?

What will happen to this aircraft? Will it be sold? Or will it return to service in the future?

Why did they store G-BNLB? I thought BA has no plan to retire any of its B 747-400s.

BA aren't going to sell it. They're storing it for the time being due to the downturn. It'll be back soon.

I heard that this particular a/c was a real maintenance curse and that they (BA) even gave it the nickname Never Leave Base in accordance with NLB in the reg.
Just a little sidenote to the topic.

I think this aircraft was one which had an incident a few years back, when it collided with a 742 at LHR, causing loads fo damage, and it may also have been one which suffered engine difficulties around the same time... i read somewhere that the early BA 744 fleet had engine troubles from time to time and im pretty sure NLB had an accident with BDXA at Heathrow.

Maybe someone could find out more.

The RB211-524Gs were a bit tempremental, the -Hs were better, but the -H/Ts are definatly the definitive -524. Took a while for RR to sort them out though.
