AC uses these a/c on YYZ-FRA, and I'd like to see something newer. Are there any rumours out there? The interiors are nothing special on the 74E, and there is no laptop power in Business class, surprising for an 8 hour flight. Anyone know anything?

Air Canada will be introducing a new J class with the introduction of the A340-500/600 and it will be put into the J class of the 747's eventually. The 74E serves AC very well, they recently got a really good deal on the lease, and the airplane turns huge profits when it operates on transatlantic routes, cargo to LHR and FRA is often making more money then passengers on some flights.

The threat to the AC 74E fleet (if any) is the small fleet of only 3. AC has little need for addl 74E's and if they ever go thru a wave of further fleet rationalization, the 74E's could be retired simply due to their small number.
I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.
