Talked to a buddy who flies at WJ he saw it today, its got a westjet tail and westjet titles but it has delta paint scheme engines and bare metal fuselage.

Registration numbers should be N3739P and N3740C. Ships 3739 and 3740, and the reason they're so roomy is that they are in the Delta Shuttle configuration... all coach at 36 inch pitch.
Hope you guys enjoy flying on them this summer..... make sure you take your camera to the airport tomorrow, Fallingeese. I'm interested to see what these birds look like.
It's a new day. Every moment matters. Now, more than ever.

But its good to see the 800s here. I too heard that it shall start operations on the 23rd.
So I guess the second one is yet to arrive within the next few days.
Anybody know what time it came in today?
I will kick myself in the butt if it came in at 10-11pm area cuz I was at piano lessons

eh well its a pretty nice question you asked TNNH,.
I guess one of the reason is that its a fellow carrier based in North America so its easier to get the planes rather than lease them from like Qantas which is 16000km away.
And I think the leasing price may of been cheaper thus enabling westjet to snag the two off of Delta Shuttle without much problem.
They will be used for only 7 months its just to fill the most heavily used routes until more -700s arrive. Looks like their -700 orders are way down the list of all the others that needs to be built and delivered.
Oh Mark: Ya sure if it is sitting outside tomorrow I'll snag a couple shots of it provided the sun is good. Glad I dont have to work tomorrow I worked today and just got back at 1130pm.
The second one will probably come like tomorrow or monday.. I just hope so! fingers are crossed!!!!
oh ya, Martin Air starts flying in on Mondays AMS-YEG-YYC-AMS route.
Also a hottie to snag.
YYC is starting to look like a true canadian Airport.

Hmm, the weather here is bad, in fact its worse than yesterday.
Shucks, I wont be going to YYC today because it is going to rain all day.
Also to top it off it looks like Rwy 16 is in use so It will be hard for me to spot and shoot picts of planes landing on 16 if say the other 800 arrives.
I hope tomorrow will be better.

The reason that they are getting delta airplanes is because Delta is the only other carrier in NA that has the exact same options for its 737NG's as WJ. All of the systems and features are the same, and as such very little extra training was required. the 737-800 is not certified to fly in Canada hence the us registration, and all pilots signed an FAA waver permitting them to fly the airplane.

Alright, Slawko said it well and it definetly makes sense.
American also has -800s but their configuration is different and it is not what Westjet had preferred. Same with ATA but it would be sweet to see winglet -800s with hybrid liverys.. Drool!
Anybody know what the exact version designation the leased 800s are?
the 700s for instance are all 76N.

N3739P and N3740C are 737-832's.
What's another word for thesaurus?
25 Boeing747-700: So these leased 738 planes are flowen by Westjet crews or Delta?
26 Slawko: Westjet 737-700 crews who have taken the -800 conversion course and signed the FAA documentation fly the -800's at WJ
27 Fallingeese: Bo it's beautiful out dude. It's 21 and I just got back from a 9 hour shift...my feet hurt. I might go out tomorrow if I'm not mountain biking at COP.

32 Dripstick: Doesn't look too shabby. Is that white or "used-to-be-white" white? I like the bare metal belly as well. Thanks for the link Screener8.
