Hello!
I heard recently in another on-line aviation forum that Aeroflot decided to keep their 2 B777-200 leased from ILFC grounded. The reason is the high in the petrol price and they are reported to be at Sheremetyevo airport, covered with snow.

First, I cannot believe that it costs more in fuel to fly a 777 than some of the other types that aeroflot runs. If in fact it is parked it's got to be for some other reason.

Albeit Aeroflot has had some hard time recently, well with the, now, absolute worthless value of the rouble, and rising fuel costs I could see that Aeroflot might consider cutting routes, and putting aeroplanes on the ground, however, I might consider putting a few of those Soviet gas-guzzlers instead of one of the most-efficient planes flying. Plus the fact that they just received a new ILFC-leased 767-300, I think that if they can't afford it, they should return it.

I am not sure about the commercial planes, but most Soviet built engines can run on any fueal and on any quality of fuel, not new and eficient/ expensive Jetfuel
