Both flights will be introduced on October 29th and also will be operated by 767-300ER. I am a bit surprising with this decision. I think the São Paulo flight could somehow work, but the Ezeiza flight is likely to fail.

I disagree. Both flights will succeed based on the Argentinian and Brazil residents of the Northern Va and So. Md area as well as the feeder service from UAX and other Mainline service that they will work.

I think that this is a cool idea that will work. Although New York is a great O&D location, it didn't necesarily serve UA well since they didn't have so many flights to and from JFK.
IAD works well because it is also a major hub for traffic to Europe on UA. The connections are very feasable from AMS, CDG, BRU, LHR, FRA, MUC, DUS and MXP, plus the codeshares to CPH, VIE and MAN.
Good thinking in my opinion. Didn't varig used to fly to IAD via ATL?

Is UAL taking these routes from ORD or JFK? Or are they just adding them in addition to ORD, JFK, and MIA? I think that they will both work. The California transcons and the Europe flights will all connect very well with both of them. Not to mention the express flights from smaller cities.

UAL is removing the service from JFK and transplanting the service to IAD. So the routes will be covered from IAD-ORD-MIA. Also IAD does not have an overconcentration of flights for UA. And it will be daily service on 767-300ER equipment with a flight time of just under 9 hours to GRU and just a touch over 10 hours to EZE. Configuration will be 10F/32C/152Y.
