United's Star Alliance Stickers: Butt Ugly

Does anyone else feel the same way?

Many *stickers are placed on UA aircraft without much precision (crooked). Also, because UA is the only *carrier to have the star placed over the color grey, the logo sticker is usally very noticeable, and does not integrate very nicely with the fuselage.

However, some aircraft have had the *logo painted, rather than stickered on. These are mainly recent, but not new-delivery, Airbus and 767-300s**, along with new-delivery 777s. The newer 777s have different *logos in that the font is displayed in black.

Compare the newer (left) to older (right).

** An intersting factoid: the 2000-2001 deliveries of A320/A319 and 767-300 aircraft had the logos painted on, but the most recent ones (the last 763 delivery -- N677UA in Nov 2001) and, as shown, N492UA -- an A320, have had the stickers painted on. Terribly inconsistent:

Compare the newest (left) to the fairly new (right).

Does anyone know how other *carriers present their *alliance identification?

I like the big One World purple circle. Close enough to the door of the aircraft on the right hand side. You cannot miss it when boarding (well on AA and EI anyway... can't really remeber on QF or BA)

QF and CX also have the OW sticker sticked onto the right handside of the door.

just been roaming through the archives... The policy seems to be consistent for all the OneWorld carriers except for one... Spot the culprit!

Did Iberia stick it on both sides of the plane?

Wouldn't it be cool to see an aircraft in big flash in your face purple Oneworld colours.
I saw an airbus A321 in Star alliance livery in LHR on several occasions (operated by BD I think...)
Why not a Oneworld aircraft?

funny you were doggin the star logo and it turned into a i like the one world logo.

i like the star, when traveling to another country other than your own it is comforting to see the so called "butt ugly" star.

i dont like the one world logo,it is very plain.imo
i guess the diffrence is i see the star EVERYDAY.

I am not sure if this has been noticed a lot, but has anyone noticed how American tends to have their Oneworld stickers pretty small whereas Iberia has them pretty big? I wonder if this is by coincidence or what. It always seems to me that American advertises Oneworld a little bit less than the others.

As for the Star logo- I kind of like it actually, the triangles that form the star look pretty neat. With the Oneworld sticker, it is supposed to be faded on one end and brighter on the other, the stickers on the aircraft don't see it, but one Oneworld paper ads, I have seen it.

I really don't find much of a problem with a stupid star alliance logo. Let it go, its no big deal.

Never said the logo was ugly...just the way it is displayed on most UA aircraft. Guess no one else thinks the same...boo hoo.

Hass....Im surprised you havent mentioned the Shuttle planes. Those are the ones with the ugly star stickers. The ones on the mainline scheme look ok. In reality, I dont think that anyone really cares.

I noticed that on the older planes, the sticker has the darker gray under the clear part-just shows how faded the gray is !
BTW has anyone ever gottena shot of that UA 747 that had the Rush Hour Express decals on her ? I heard they were only on for 2 hours.

Airworthy, as someone who is opening Airbus doora all day I can tell you from the oldest airbus to the newest they are all decals. some have been put on in a sloppy fashion I admit but for the most part I like it. I think it looks just fine on UA and AC airplanes.

UAPHLCS--

Whoops... my mistake then.

But compare the two photos of the newest and newer airbii... what's up with that? Is that just a photo quality issue, cause I've seen the same contradiction in person too?

Do you know why the newer 777s have different *decals (black font)?

Well the new Airbus definatly has a decal the difference in collor is obvious in the pic. It is there in the pic of the older Airbus. But it is VERY hard to see. I had the pic as large as possible and I was swinting at the area.

As for 777 I don't know, We don't get 'em in PHL so I haven't heard anything about them.
